My Story

My name is Marissa Roberts and I'm the face behind Beautifully Organised.

I've been interested in organising for about 14 years - ever since I first moved out of home. There's something about having your own space (even if it's a tiny rented studio apartment) and the independence that goes with it - I found myself excited about keeping house, organising my wardrobe, and staying on top of paying bills. I think it was the "I'm a grown up" feeling it gave me that first attracted me to organised living.

This passion really kicked into high gear when I married and had kids - My husband and I have 2 beautiful girls. I found that even though I had taken time off from my corporate life to focus on the little ones at home, life didn't slow down. In fact, it seemed to speed up - suddenly I was running on no sleep, with barely any time to myself to handle every day tasks, let alone find time to relax!

That's when I realised being organised isn't just about paying bills and keeping cupboards tidy - it's about finding ways to free yourself up to enjoy life.

I didn't want to waste anymore time looking for my keys.

I didn't want to put up with a "witching hour" with my kids.

I didn't want to feel like I just barely made it through the day, flopping into bed exhausted every night.

No.

I wanted to be a calm, relaxed, person. To run a smooth, well ordered household. To have exactly what I want for my life and my family in the long term. And to have a really nice time doing it.

So over the past couple of years I've immersed myself in how to's, self help, books, blogs, shows and just about everything else I can think of related to personal organising. I've taken it all in and added my own little personal touches, little tips and tricks that have worked wonders for me.

I love organising. I could talk about it for hours. And if you are into to it too, or you'd like to become good at it, I'd love to share what I know with you.

You can see a few posts I've written on my personal blog Marissa writes a blog, to give you an idea of how I tackle personal organisation. There's a focus on busy mums - because I am one. But anyone can make my methods work for them.

You'll be amazed at how little changes here and there can make a big difference to how you handle everyday challenges. But be warned - you may just find it as exciting and addictive as I do!
