6 easy ways to play with your kids when you’re tired

Do you struggle when your kids want you to play with them but you’re SO tired already?

It’s been a HUGE day already, now you’re home with the kids, and understandably, they want to spend time having fun with you.

I'm not very good at playing. I’m not great at imaginative play, I’m a little too competitive at structured board games, I get tired by about 4pm, and I’m usually thinking about all the stuff I still need to get done.

But I also know that kids grow up fast, and quality play time together is really important. It shows them how special they are, it’s a great way to bond, to find out what you have in common, and to create fun memories together.

Sometimes you’re just too tired, I totally get that, so here are 6 ways you can play with your kids that gives you quality time together AND gives you a chance to relax as well:

1. Play hospitals. They're the doctor, you are the patient. Get your bandages out and let them wrap up your arms and legs while you relax on the lounge.

2. Play the cloud game. Go outside, put a blanket down on the grass, look up at the clouds and tell each other what you see.

3. Lay down and listen to an audio book together. Audible has a great young adults book section on their app, and you can get your first book for free if you haven’t tried it before. All you can books.com has books for younger kids too, and if it’s a long one, you can do a chapter each day and get even more relax time! 4. Colour together. You’ll be surprised at how relaxing it is!

5. Have a “spa day”. Do your nails, then pop on a face mask together (or just use moisturiser with small kids), and lie back for 10 minutes listening to relaxing music.

6. Play hairdresser. You sit down with a magazine and they brush your hair for ages. So relaxing! But hide the scissors ;)
