Just one small step

You look around your house and all you see is mess. Every room is bursting at the seams and it feels like your house is full of rubbish.

  • Your wardrobe is stuffed but you've got nothing to wear.

  • The kids have hundreds of toys and games but most of them have missing pieces.

  • Your washing is piled so high over the basket rim that you can't stand looking at it anymore.

It's all too much - you want to clear it out & clean it up but you have no idea where to start.

Here's the thing - if you keep thinking you have to fix it all in one go, you're never going to get started.

It's always going to feel like too big a job - like it will take too long.

My advice?

If you want to declutter your home, to have more space and make it easier to clean, you've got to stop looking at the big picture and start small.

Yep, take small steps. Steps that aren't overwhelming, that you can work into everyday life.

My gorgeous friend Ange has a great decluttering technique - she takes a box or bag at the start of each week and puts it somewhere she'll see it easily.

Then throughout the week, bit by bit, she fills it with something she doesn't need any more.

One week it may be clothes the kids have grown out of.

One week it may be books they haven't read in a long time.

Toys that have been forgotten.

Wedding presents that were never opened.

At the end of the week, or when the bag is full, she puts it in her car and donates it to charity or gives it to a loved one who needs it.

It's a small step - but it makes a BIG change to her home and her level of overwhelm. Especially when it's done regularly.

This week I challenge you to take a small step towards getting your home organised, tidy & clutter free.

Just one step. You can try Ange's technique, or make up one of your own.

Let me know how you go xx
