Struggle to catch up with friends and family? Here's an easy way to organise it.

Today’s post is for people who love the idea of catching up with friends and family regularly but struggle to schedule it in and do it on a regular basis.

It’ll help you keep up to date with what’s happening with your loved ones in a way that fits easily into your life, without making you feel overcommitted and burnt out.

It’s especially helpful for busy times of the year and for anyone who finds themselves saying “we need to catch up soon!” without ever actually following through.

Ready?

Today’s simple tip is to use the rule of 3 when organising catch ups with your friends and family.

The rule of 3 is a simple concept that lets you narrow down your options so they don’t feel overwhelming or difficult to keep track of. All you need to do is consistently focus on the 3 best options for you and offer those when planning a catch up.

Grab a pen and paper and write down 3 ways and 3 times you could comfortably catch up with someone in any given week.

For example;

* Going for a walk in the morning with your friend
* Having your friend come to your home for afternoon tea
* Seeing a movie in the evening together

Now that you’ve taken the time to find 3 catch up options that fit well with your life, it’s easier to suggest them on the spot when you hear from a loved one you haven’t seen in a while. When you consistently offer just these 3 options for catch ups, it also makes it much easier to schedule and keep track of them.

The added advantage of being so specific with your suggestion is it reduces the back and forth that happens when you try to find a time to get together.

Saying, “Let’s go for a walk together one morning next week” is much easier and more helpful than saying “Let’s catch up, when is good for you?”

Give it a try and let me know how it works out for you!
