Busy busy busy?!? How to get things done anyway

Some days there's just so much to do, you don't even know where to start..

It feels like hundreds of things are swirling around in your head and you can't even think clearly enough to decide what to begin with.

You feel anxious - on edge, crabby, stressed out and just plain exhausted - and no matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to get anywhere..

I have days like this too - everyone does.

You've got to move past the overwhelm and start a momentum. Get moving. Start doing. That's how you'll start to get on top of it all.

Here's how I do it:

1. I change my mindset. Repeat after me. "I can handle this."

2. I get it all out. Take a pen and paper and write down every To Do that's clogging up your mind - even the little things. I don't even write it neatly - I just write it down.

3. I do the really urgent, really important things first - no matter how big and ugly they are. "The things that absolutely have to get done today, are my only priority right now."

In week 2 of the Make Life Easy workshop we go through how to prioritise your To Do's so you never have to go to bed feeling guilty and overwhelmed again. Some of my favourite comments after teaching this module:

"This to do list method has come along at exactly the right time. I really feel like I am on top of things and will be less likely to forget anything"

"I love the effective To Do list and it was one of my favourite things from the course"

"Thanks for another simple yet amazingly effective strategy"

Whether you're joining us on the workshop in Septmber or working through your To Do's on your own, the most important part is to know that you can handle these busy, stressful days.

So do it tonight before you go to bed. Take a piece of paper and get it all out of your head. Then go to bed and sleep well now that the weight is off your shoulders.

Tomorrow you'll begin again - fresh from a good night's sleep, your list ready to go, and you'll have your most productive day in a long time.
